MAC crew working with helicopters in Colorado

MAC commits itself to creating the safest work environment possible for all employees, so we have implemented a robust safety and health program specifically tailored to our work tasks. We evaluate the program at least once a year and we always welcome any employee suggestions for improvements that can be made. The program is directed by our safety coordinator and our 5 member safety committee (consisting of employees at varying levels and regions within the company) and has been endorsed by company management.

One of the most important aspects of our program is our safety training, which has several levels. First, we make sure that all new employees are trained on our most common hazards before they conduct any work. Second, we hold company-wide training at least 4 times per year, covering important safety topics such as driving safety, accident reporting, emergency evacuation procedures, and CPR/first aid. Third, we hold brief daily safety meetings prior to conducting fieldwork. These meetings are directed by the crew supervisor and cover hazards specific to that day's work. Finally, we provide additional training as necessary for uncommon hazards that are specific to some job tasks.

Our safety program has been recognized in Colorado and North Dakota for its level of quality. In Colorado, we have received the state's Cost Containment Certification, showing that we have implemented a loss prevention and control program that meets their criteria. In North Dakota, we are actively participating in the Safety Management Program, showing that our program also meets their criteria for loss prevention. We are committed to keeping our employees safe while maintaining low workers' compensation costs.

In addition to our safety program, MAC has implemented a wellness program in an effort to keep our employees as healthy as possible. The program is administered by Trotter Wellness and includes a couple of components. Annually, our employees are encouraged to participate in a health risk assessment. Then, they are given the opportunity to work with a health coach to set and reach the employee's health goals. The Wellsource Health Solutions website also has many informational materials available to encourage healthy living and a monthly newsletter is disseminated to all employees with health tips and challenges.
